Profile

Wai Chiang is a registered structural engineer in the State of Illinois as well as a registered professional engineer in multiple states. Wai has extensive experience in structural engineering, and oversees the structural engineering department at Cordogan Clark & Associates. Wai's design projects include public and municipal facilities, educational buildings, cultural and commercial buildings, theaters and performing arts centers, mid to high-rise mixed-use buildings from 14 to 40 stories, residential buildings, and miscellaneous structures. His design experience also includes construction related projects such as temporary shoring, and supports for tower cranes, hoists, and booms. Wai's interest in structures began early with wooden blocks and Legos, and even at an early age he developed methods to build sturdy structures that could not be knocked down by external forces such as his older sibling.

In addition to his design experience, Wai is also an experienced forensic engineer who has investigated hundreds of cases related to structural failures, including building envelopes, catastrophes, construction accidents, defects, construction induced vibrations. He has assisted clients in litigation, and served as an expert witness in trials.

Wai was born and spent his early years in Hong Kong, China before moving to the United States where he attended High School and College. Wai completed his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Civil Engineering at The University of Illinois at Chicago.
