The Carl and Deloris Petty Sports and Recreation Complex at Missouri Baptist University supports a culture of wellness, with a fitness program that provides opportunities for the social, mental, and physical development of students and employees through fitness, wellness, and recreational activity.
The 47,000 square-foot complex, designed by Cordogan Clark / Ittner, includes a 1,000-seat gymnasium, a suspended indoor track, locker rooms, a concession area in Spartan Hall, a fully-equipped fitness center, classrooms, offices for faculty and coaching staff, and facilities for the Health and Sports Sciences division.
The complex provides Faculty, staff, and students convenient access to state-of-the-art equipment and a wide variety of group fitness classes. MBU Fitness inspires the university community towards enhanced wellness.

LOUNGE
This large gathering space has plenty of comfortable seating for students to get together for study groups or to watch the game on the large flat-screen television.
INDOOR TRACK
The floating indoor track allows recreational walkers and runners a bird’s-eye view of the gymnasium.
GROUP FITNESS ROOM
The large group fitness room has a state-of-the-art surround sound system, mirrored walls and a magnificent view of the eastern side of campus. Students, faculty and staff can participate in a variety of group fitness classes in this modern facility.
SPARTAN HALL
This spacious foyer welcomes guests with large windows that let in ample natural light and the university seal inlaid in the polished floor.
J.E. & L.E. MABEE FOUNDATION COURTYARD
A grand archway leads guests to the beautiful outdoor courtyard adjacent to the Student Recreation Center.
R. ALTON LACEY GYMNASIUM
The state-of-the-art gymnasium is home to the MBU Spartans NAIA Division I basketball, volleyball and wrestling teams. This modern athletic facility features 1,000 seats, a digital control system, premium flooring and electric bleachers.
FITNESS CENTER
The spacious fitness center has free weights, weight machines and cardiovascular equipment to aid flexibility, develop strength, tone muscles and improve overall health. The treadmills, bikes, and ellipticals boast 17"-19" touch-screen displays outfitted with cable TV, Facebook, Twitter, and Netflix, direct integration with numerous fitness tracking apps, and a USB port to charge almost any device.
