MUNICIPAL: Hellenic Museum
Chicago, Illinois
This project for the Chicago Hellenic Museum and Cultural Center incorporates Museum, Gallery, Auditorium, Office, and Meeting spaces in a strong binuclear organization that is based on drum and slab forms. Classic principles of composition are expressed in the Hellenic Museum and Cultural Center though three-part horizontal composition, strong patterns of light and shadows, and the geometric clarity of its form. A highly figural building, this design addresses both the corner of its block and the scale of the city, including the enormous Sears Tower visible to the east.
