Huntley Fire Protection District desired the consolidation and expansion of administrative, maintenance and reserve functions in a single location. The $9.7 mil, 23,700 SF, three story addition and renovations to the existing Annex Building are designed to serve as a centralized hub for substations featuring administration, training, vehicle maintenance, hose drying, oxygen/SCBA filling stations, reserve vehicle storage, and living quarters for up to eight firefighters. The design is sensitive to recent carcinogen concerns, featuring dedicated mechanical systems, segregation between hot and safe zones, and a sauna. Living and apparatus relationships are optimized for minimized response time.
