The new Campus Ministry Center revitalizes University Lutheran Church’s role at Purdue University.
For more than half a century, University Lutheran Church has been a landmark in West Lafayette. The parish has embraced their role as a campus ministry, becoming the destination of choice for Lutheran students attending Purdue University.
To better serve their majority student congregation, they relocated to a three-story building at the heart of Purdue’s campus. Keystone Architecture worked with the Church to adapt the former office building into a new home for the parish.
The new sanctuary design respects the tradition and ritual of the church’s liturgy. The Center also contains church offices, a fellowship hall, and a coffee shop open to the general public. The shop is a collaboration with a local retailer: Here students can work on assignments while enjoying coffee and light meals. The new Campus Ministry Center has exceeded expectations for increased student engagement.
